Leave plenty of time to file accounts
As we come to the end of a difficult year, businesses are being urged to consider going paperless and not file their their annual accounts at the last minute.
The Government restrictions surrounding Covid-19 has meant there is a reduced number of staff working at Companies House Offices, therefore this will have an impact on the processing of accounts filed in paper for the 2019/20 financial year. To help ensure annual accounts do not encounter any unnecessary delays, Companies House are requesting online filing where possible.
The online filing service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has inbuilt checkers and filters to pick up any missing or incorrect information.
Where it is not possible to file online, accounts are requested in early December or as early as possible. Paperwork submitted too close to December 31st 2020 which are then rejected run the risk of not being processed in time, and will incur a late filing penalty.
